The Business Model Canvas is a business tool used to visualize all the building blocks when starting a business, including customers, route to market, value proposition, and financials.

Created by Swiss entrepreneur and Strategyzer and co-founder of consultancy firm Strategyzer, Alexander Osterwalder, the Business Model Canvas depicts nine essential building blocks that constitute the foundations of any successful business.
The Business Model Canvas is famous among entrepreneurs because of its simplicity. A visual depiction of the entire business allows for high-level analysis without getting bogged down in the minutiae. Implementation requires sketching out the nine building blocks on a blank canvas and filling out how each concept pertains to the company.
